American Conservatory Theater Breaks Ground on new Strand Theater
Stage Directions: The American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco has broken ground on their new Strand Theater space. Located in the Central Market neighborhood, the theatre will be renovation of an old Vaudeville house and will include a 300-seat theatre, a 120-seat black box theatre and a café. The space was designed by lead architects SOM and will open up the lobby and façade to the street and sidewalk, while restoring the original 1917 façade of the building. The renovation will cost $32.5 million, and is scheduled to finish in early 2015.
