I truly beleive that this concept is a great idea. I grew up on the Eric Carl books and i loved them for the reason stated in the article: there was just enough illustrations to spark your inamgination, but at the same time, there was a certain lack of detail that forced to you fill in the blanks. As a kid, this was the coolest thing, because it was almost like I had a say in what was going on. And that is why I especially like the fact that there is a "No Shushing" policy. I think that in some instances, interaction of the audience is crucial to theater, and children almost always have that need. I would love to make my way out to see this show. I have a feeling that those who go to see it are in for a great treat.
I grew up reading all of the Eric Carl books, and watched all of his "behind the scenes" videos. This is another business venture aiming at getting a whole family to see a play rather than one or two people. When kids come, siblings and friends come, then parents come. Multiple people, multiple tickets: profit. Is this the most respected form of art? Not at all. Is it a unique performance with an awesome concept? Yes. I loved Eric Carls's books and I am sure that his style will be perfectly emulated in this production! Excited to hear how it turns out.
