I wish this article outlined what the new Executive Committee will do. It seems like Howard and Reardon have done a good job of composing the committee of a diverse group of members that will represent many of the constituencies that have membership in the union. I am surprised that the Executive Committee only has to report to the National Board once every 3 months. I would think that they might need to be doing (and reporting) more in the first year or so as a new union. From what I have read recently, there is a lot of work to be done in the coming months so that all members of the union are decently covered in terms of health care, pension, etc. I expect to hear more of this Executive Committee and hope that they can begin to work together immediately to provide for their members and to help forge some of the rules and regulations that will be used by this new union for many years to come.
