'The Gammage Project' an ambitious work
Post Gazette: There are three main questions raised by "The Gammage Project," Attilio Favorini's ambitious, sprawling new theater piece. First, what kind of an evening does it provide? Engrossing. It's too long -- Mr. Favorini is in love with his extensive research -- but it's always interesting and occasionally gripping. And although director Mark Clayton Southers could tighten it up considerably, it is an achievement just to deploy 27 actors, a mix of pro, amateur and students, playing 46 roles in who can count how many scenes. But the overriding question is what's been before us ever since Oct. 12, 1995: Who killed Jonny Gammage?
