Point Park's Contemporary Choreographers proves pleasing
Post Gazette: With Point Park University's Byham series focusing on established dance works, the idea of Pittsburgh Connections, with mostly new pieces created for the student group by local choreographers, Conservatory Dance Company, took on a greater significance.

I think that this series would be really interesting to watch, and be apart of. Everyone knows that Point Park is great in dance and that it focuses more on it in their education, say than we do here. I like the sound of the different arrangements of pieces, being inspired by such varying backgrounds. I have always had a great respect for dancers and their craft, because like so many things, when it is done right and with passion it is breathtaking.
I really love dance shows and it is unfortunate that we only have time for one dance show a year because as a Stage Manager it is a totally different pace to have to maneuver and for the actors/MTs it is another way for them to express themselves. I know that we are always busy with something but I think trying to make at least one more event a year would be beneficial. Playground fulfills some of this need but ultimately another scheduled supported dance show would be nice.
I agree with Devorah I wish we had more dance shows here at CMU. The process and design are totally different from other shows and its a completely different way of expressing yourself artistically. I love dance shows and I know Point Park does some great stuff I wish I had more time to see their shows and I really wish we could try to make more room in our schedule to experiment more with dance shows. I think it would be a great idea.
