Beijing Dance breathes new life into old stories
Post Gazette: A fairly full Byham Theater got a lesson in Chinese culture Tuesday when Beijing Dance Company -- the resident professional troupe of the famed Beijing Dance Academy -- made its Pittsburgh premiere.
The Beijing Dance Company really sounds incredible and something that one should experience at least once in their lives. If not this company, a company similar. There are so many performance similar to the one that was described and I'm sure it isn't the kind of show that lags on and on. Even for the 2008 summer Olympics, a performance as remarkable as what was described, set the still. Watching it on TV was one thing but imagining the performance live is one rare and spectacular moment. I'm sure the same precision on the details made the entire show awe inspired. What really caught my attention in this article, were the descriptions of the props and costumes. The gold beaded piece added to the ensembles must have taken hours and months to create. I would assume that being on the design team meant having a fantastic opportunity to learn about the art and creativity to mold one of these garments out. They learn how to really paint a picture and demand that the audience look at their work. The shock response is merely a perk. On top of that, it also makes perfect sense to have this work for a show such as this. Grandeur and pride is something completely routed and practiced in the Chinese culture. Chinese culture might also be some of the most notable and noble cultures that take great pride in their country.
