Pittsburgh Opera returns 'Carmen' to original form

Pittsburgh Tribune-Review: "Quality isn't always recognized immediately. But few works of art have had so rapid a change in esteem as 'Carmen' by Georges Bizet.
'Carmen' was a flop at its premiere in Paris in March 1875. Seven months later, it was a hit in Vienna and has remained one of the most popular operas ever since."

I have never seen Carmen before, but it sounds very interesting in that Carmen doesn't fall in love and go off with her man. It seems like she really has depth and that the other characters also have real issues and internal conflicts that aren't just "oh woe is me! My love is unrequited ." I'd be very interested in seeing this production. It seems like the actors are very invested and familiar with the show and I bet they will put on a good performance.
