"Glee" Live! In Concert! Adds New York and Los Angeles Dates

This specific article would not open on my computer, but I have read about it elsewhere. I actually really like the idea of a Glee tour, but not as much as the TV show itself. As the show gets more popular, I think it will continue to promote interest in theatre, specifically Broadway, since two of the stars (among others), Matthew Morrison and Lea Michele come from a background in theatre. As more people find out more about them, and the show, they might be more inclined to go see live theatre. Plus, the show has featured songs from musicals, which is just another way it promotes this.
I think this is a good way to get a younger audiance into theater esp. as this show gets more popular. like Sarah said, they have songs from other musicals so that's just another way to advertise. I love this show and I would go see the concert. I'm surprised only two of the cast members have a history on broadway.
I lovee Glee. I know there have been really similar shows and productions in the past such as high school musical, but I'm really glad Glee has been as successful as it has or successful enough to be launching a concert and having another season. I was watching one of the behind the scenes for Glee with the writers and director and they said they were really scared that Glee would be shut down in its first season without responsive audiences because they have seen so many musical sitcoms go through the same cycle without ever leaving their mark on television or becoming a fixture on a primetime slot and what not and I think a lot of it is the director or writer's choice to incorporate such contemporary music, even the classic rock songs like Don't Stop Believin' because they take our favorite songs that already resonate such a strong nostalgia with American audiences and put a face on them, a story behind them, incorporate a romance, an underdog story, etc and it great to see that they're coming out with a concert.
I really hope that the next stop on the Glee train isn't a Broadway musical, but it sounds like that could happen. I can see what everyone is saying about Glee making younger audiences get excited about theatre, but I also think that this country doesn't need more musicals based on movies, tv shows, etc. It's all getting a little redundant in my opinion. I also think that this type of tv show is getting super redundant, there's already High School Musical and other Disney shows, they all feel the same to me. It's getting annoying that people aren't coming up with new ideas, I really wish they would.
I think it's great that this show has become so popular and has been received so enthusiastically by people in the U.S. I hope that its popularity among most of the teenage generation will inspire a greater interest in theatre in the nearby future. Personally, I don't really like the tv show very much, but I like the music and the appreciation for the arts and theatre that could be spread among all of its dedicated viewers.
I think these days the boundary of genre is more free than former days. Sometimes movie subject is selected musical and sometimes theatre subject is selected movie. I thinks this is good way because one subject can be shown diverse way. Also Glee is one of the famous tv show so that 'musical glee' can induce more audience into the theatre.
