Its always great to hear about a small show growing up and being moved to Broadway, and this sounds like the classic story of the princess rising to be famous. Its great that the smaller theatres in the area are getting attention and recognition, and hopefully that attention will be passed along through the industry at large. I also love to hear about original works getting to broadway, and the more original works coming from small theatres, the better in my opinion.
I'm really happy for the Chicago Dramatists. The attention they and their playwright's are getting is not only great for them but great for theatre as a whole. In several of these articles people have complained about the lack of new shows and here are all these shows in Chicago waiting to be discovered. And maybe now, with their association to "A Steady Rain" and the high profile actors playing the two cops, the shows in Chicago will be discovered since the producers in New York are casting their gaze over Chicago. I think it'd be great to get some thought provoking and original plays into the New York scene to balance out all the movies turned musicals.
