Cast and creators recall the birth of Broadway's 'Avenue Q'

Post Gazette: "What's an unemployed puppet to do?
The question takes on cosmic -- and very real significance -- when 'Avenue Q,' the funny, often raunchy musical tribulations of twentysomethings, closes Sunday on Broadway after a six-year run of more than 2,500 performances."

I remember the stir when Avenue Q opened on Broadway. I think a lot of people were surprised by the content but also felt a weird connection to the message the show was trying to send. It very bluntly spells out a lot of things I think we all try to pretend don't exist. I am glad it has done so well and that it will be touring around the country. I like to think Avenue Q opened the Broadway door a little wider for the next new, out of the box show to come in.
