Google calls for UK copyright reforms

guardian.co.uk: "Google today called for UK copyright reforms that allow individuals limited use of copyrighted work in order to create new content."

While I agree with this cause, it seems like this is a sign that google has given up fighting against the idea that they are responsible for content others post via their servers. The most important thing that laws need to get straight is that the burden of copyright enforcement does not belong to conduits, but rather to the copyright holders. The reason google and other conduits are pushing for reasonable copyright is because the copyright holders are using unreasonable laws to burden the websites who host far more frequently than the users who post.
