CNET News: "I know that there is a vast probability that some of you will want to be part of a flatulence sound experiment today. How can I possibly deny you that satisfaction?
Professor Trevor Cox, of Salford University in the United Kingdom, is a man who is obsessed with acoustics. He now wants to know which specific flatulent sound makes people laugh the most."

This just struck me as a really weird idea. I'm all for using the internet for bizarre stuff, but funniest fart? Well I guess in internet logic, it's about time it existed, but isn't this something that's far too subjective to really measure? Isn't half of the humor of farting about it's situation? I'm also a little concerned that this idea is coming out of a university professor, while I'm not saying that professors don't have fun, this just seems like something a frat house would put together over a weekend.
I'm not really sure if this qualifies as news, but either way, I'm always up for a good laugh. It's good to see a professor have fun with low humor while still remaining academic.
I would like to know what exactly qualifies as the funniest fart. Is it the longest, loudest, smelliest? What is the criteria for this crazy endeavor?
This sounds like a fun investigation. But what about the farts not caught on film? I'm sure there are a bunch of hilarious farts that weren't documented.
This is a ridiculous article. The whole basis of the study is awesomely absurd. The fact that it has generated these comments show how shock value effects news and how it is revealed.
