Using hemp for industrial and entertainment applications is far from unheard of, shipping and hemp houses anyone, but using a renewable resource like hemp for grinding flap discs is kind of cool. The question is if it is actually environmentally friendly to use a natural fiber as part of the disc, or does the extra work to manufacture it make it not worth the effort to be green. Not to mention in an industry that throws away entire sets after each run, who are we kidding trying to "go green".

Gotta agree with Aaron here -- its yet another marketing ploy. I'm sure the energy and engineering needed to compress the hemp into a disc that can withstand the stresses of grinding out ways the fact that it is a natural fiber. Lets also not forget that just because its a natural fiber doesn't mean that its overuse, over farming, and over production aren't harmful to the environment as well. If I could send that disc back the manufacturer to be re-disced, then maybe it would be beneficial. Let's try to use the three Rs before we get blinded by slick and hip marketing techniques.

It is interesting how they made strong and "green" grinding disks that are easily thrown away. I wonder how strong they are in comparison to the disks we use in the shop today. The vise inserts are interesting and handy for many different things. I always find that the vice inserts don't ever do what i want to do. The engine cradle looks interesting, and something that can easily be built by someone in a shop, but it is cheap, so I would just buy it.

I'd be scared to use a grinder made out of hemp. I'm sure they have engineered it to be safe, but I'm not sure I would want to test that.
