Sightlines: "Remember show and tell from grade school? It was a great chance to show off something special.
USITT's Tech Expo is the technical version of show and tell, and the great thing about it is that those who enter have the opportunity to be chosen for a cash prize."

I seem to recall that we discussed the tech expo in a class not to long ago. The consensus was that it really isn't a showcase of new technology or ideas, but of people reinventing the wheel. I think there should be two categories for the tech expo, competitive submissions which are required to be an advance in currently technology or ideas, and non competitive which are interesting "show and tell" pieces.
This sounds so cool. Even if the entries aren't new and innovative technology doing things in a new way can help others and be really cool. The encouragement of innovation is really what is best about this. It challenges something new, even if it doesn't get it.
