Is Shrek Drek?

Positive reviews? : O I am slightly amazed. While definitely not a fan of movie-to-musical trends, some of the technological innovations in Shrek fascinate me. Also, I love replica costuming. Trying to take a stylized, two-dimensional image and translate it into something an actor can wear is both challenging and tons of fun.
I totally agree with Cass here. I am typically not a fan of the movie to musical trend of late, especially with Disney reigning over this trend -- but maybe that's just due to my affinity towards Disney. I can understand the choice of the show, in the sense that it can appeal to a large and varied audience, of multiple ages, however, I can't imagine it will do anything worth while for the artistic integrity of the industry.
I was doing shop prep at the PRG in Jersey when the Shrek electrics crew was prepping their gear. It was astounding the amount of equipment and money that was being poured into this show. I guess when Disney funds it, you can sort of get whatever you want. Sort of seems like a waste though given how long the gear was just going to sit in a ware house waiting for load-in.
