The long and Short of it
Hollywood Reporter: "In a letter dated Tuesday and distributed Wednesday to the media, IATSE international president Tom Short recalls having cautioned Verrone that a failure to engage with the studios much earlier than the WGA planned would produce 'devastation' and that the prediction has come true with the WGA's 10-day-old strike."

There is most certainly some amount of animosity with the WGA and it's sad that they had to bring it to a strike. This has really hurt a lot of shows and the fact that Verrone added as an afterthought that they were willing to bargain still was absurd in the fact that he is not at all giving the attitude that a resolution is something that he is after. He gives the impression of a petulant child in this article who is under the impression that this is some kind of game he is playing. The repercussions of this are massive, touching most everyone in the industry personally at this point. All this is going to lead to is under the table scripts being "found" as they come from the homes of writers. The talks were not started nearly soon enough and now we are at the stopping point that we've reached. Hopefully the powers that be will get working much more quickly to resolve this "little" problem.
