The play is on
The Enquirer: "Lakota school officials announced this morning that the high school production of “Ten Little Indians” will be performed. The play was originally scheduled to be performed this weekend. The school canceled the production after Gary Hines, a Lakota parent and president of the Butler County chapter of the NAACP, protested to school officials that the original 1939 title to Agatha Christie's classic murder mystery contained a racial slur against African Americans."

its interesting so see schools going under fire about heir play choice again. it seems to be a rather common recurrence in the recent years... from my point of view, i'd say its at least a good thing that parents are finally taking notice of this kind of thing... i feel like also, now more then ever we are seeing a politically correct display within in school....good to see if you ask me.
I would agree with Lydia that it is good parents are involved but political correctness is just censorship and a terrible excuse to get upset. People are so immature about so many things and yes the original book may have been offensive in the nature of it's cover but it's really good to see that they have moved passed it and are saying instead of "Oh this is so bad, *censor censor censor*" they are saying "Yeah, this is bad but this is from another time and this is the context of that and why it has become bad." Teaching a lesson through theatre. Imagine the possibilities.
Maybe they should just call it "Ten Little white kids" and move on. If whit people are going to revolt against racism why don't they just make it ten little white kids and see how white people react? No one can really revolt against racism until they have personally experienced it. Anyway I'm sure that if it was mocking white people that it wouldn't get made so therefore maybe they shouldn't do it.
it is important for things like this to be recognized and changed, because then the kids in school will learn why something like that is offensive to people.
The Politically Correct crowd are the new crazy Christians. Always trying to censor things.
