"...enrolling some 1,200 students, which is as large as the entire CMU College of Fine Arts, of which drama is just a part."
They make that sound like a benefit of NYU. I cant say for sure, being in a high school class of ninety something, and a major of 19. But I would think that such a huge class would be a downfall, with a huge student to teacher ratio.
As sad as it is to see her go I can't blame her. She gets to move to New York and work on their new projects. I have to say I'm very excited for the process of finding a new head of school of drama and hope many students will be involved.
Tisch seems like a very different program than CMU, especially in terms of size and selectivity. I think that Liz Bradley's move there doesn't really reflect negatively on either school, seeing as they are so different.
That seems strange to me that anyone would want to work at NYU just becasue of thier ratio again. One of the things that I like so much about Carnegie Mellon's Drama program is almost every student knows every teacher which really helps learning and education in general. I don't think I would ever pass up Carnegie Mellon to a school where I didn't know my teachers well.
it will also be interesting to see the changes that are made there in the future as a result of her being president. i am sure it will be innovative and exciting!
While I haven't had a chance to truly get to know Liz Bradley, I am still sad to see her go. She seems to be a very strong figurehead for the School of Drama here. I'm confident that she will be able to make many improvements on NYU's theatre program. I too am very curious about the new head of the School of Drama, mainly because they have fairly large shoes to fill.
Good for her for doing what is the best interest of her and her family. It is sad to see her go from here, but when your heart lies in something, you truly need to go where it takes you. By doing this I think she is setting a great example for us to not be afraid of change, and to go where you first and foremost will be happiest in life.
It is so sad to see Liz leave, but our school is in such an amazing place right now. Tisch certainly does need the help of someone like Liz to expand and enhance their program. And I think it can also be extremely exciting for us to get a new Head of the school, perhaps we can get the most dynamic experience out of our four years having Liz for half of our time here and someone completely different - but hopefully just as wonderful - for the next two.
We're going to miss her though :).
Certainly this is quite the shock...or at least it was when the information first hit all of us, but I do understand that this can really mean a lot of good things for our program here. It's a good chance to continuing to expand the horizons of the people here. I'm also very curious in seeing the process that is about to take place to find her replacement...especially to see how involved Liz herself is.
