For national tours to be non-equity is pretty unusual, correct? Especially two tours coming out of Broadway as big as Hairspray and The Producers... I wonder how sketchy the deals will be for actors, especially on something as demanding as a national tour.. i mean there has to be a reason for the producers to choose to make it non-equity...
That seems weird. I feel like EVERYONE is a member of equity. I know it's not the case, but it seems like it's probably a little stupid for actors to sign up for a show as demanding as a national tour without the backing of the union.
