Meetings Should End With Next Actions

lifehack.org: "Meetings that end without action steps are a waste of our time. When our Action Pads contain no action steps after a meeting, we realize that the meeting should have been a voice-mail or email. The lesson: Only call a meeting when you suspect that actions will come out of it."

I agree with this article that we should end meetings with next actions. I will alway come up with a "to-do" list.
In fact, I normally include this in the minutes for meetings.
It will always reflect a To do list, even if it is just a simple task of finding out whether we have a Size 5 shoe in our stock.
I will also include the people who supposed to complete the task, and deadlines for it.

LIke Pebble mentions, I agree that there has to be some sort of action which follows a meeting otherwise it's pointless and unnecessary. This really goes hand in hand with what we've talked about in class with Tina in Technical Management and last year with Dave in PTM in that things have to be resolved to an extent during a meeting in order to progress in a production. Time plays a big part in this as well in that there is a window where action after a meeting is actually useful as opposed to checking something off a list for kicks.

I don't necessarily think that the meeting would be pointless if there were no action items for every person. what it comes down to, is that if you contribute to the meeting than it's important to attend. With regards to production meetings, it might be important to voice concerns if they come up.
