This show sounds so cool! I have been fascinated by Shakespeare’s works for a long time and it is always fantastic to see the reimagining of them in new contexts and from various angles. A Room in the Castle’s focus on the women of Shakespeare’s Hamlet sounds like a phenomenal reimagining of one of Shakespeare’s most famous plays. As great as Shakespeare’s plays are, I think the women often have the short straw and are underdeveloped as characters. Choosing to focus solely on them creates a great opportunity to look at what Shakespeare somewhat brushed aside, while still using the kernels that are in the source text of Hamlet. In addition to Hamlet, I would love to see how others of Shakespeare’s works take shape when the stories of the women are put in the spotlight. Overall, I am so excited for A Room in the Castle and can’t wait to hear more about, and hopefully see it someday!
