I always love to see art regarding women’s empowerment. Especially in this time when unfortunately we are taking massive political steps back in women's rights with the overturning of Roe V Wade. It's always nice to see women continuing to persevere and push back those trying to oppress us, and She Persisted is a fantastic example of that. Not only is the message of this show exactly what we need right now, I greatly appreciate the fact that the producers made such an effort to exemplify the message of the show by hiring a cast and design team made up of almost entirely women. To me, that's how you know the people in charge genuinely believe the message they’re trying to send, rather than just putting out some progressive message with no action to back it up with. I wish this show was being performed in a theatre closer to me, I would love to see it live if ever I’m given the opportunity.

In such a volatile time for women in America, art is even more important than it normally is. Having art that is both digestible and understandable for young audiences is also extremely crucial. A production like She Persisted can change a young girl's life forever if seen in the correct context. By showing a child that she can be anything, even when there is a dangerous situation in the world around her, we are helping to influence and mold the leaders of the future. But the best part about projects like this one is that while it is targeted towards younger children, it can also impact older women in a similar way. Adult women today face the struggles of reeled back abortion laws, violence, and sexism every day. While a production like this will not directly change those laws and societal issues, it can give viewers hope for a better future based on the heroes of the past.
