This article was very inspiring, especially considering the variety of the different forms of art included: music (& music producing), storytelling, embroidery, quilting, film, computer graphics, printmaking, and different ways of making theater. I really enjoy the interconnectedness of experimentation within the arts - that is to say, each art requires exploration. I didn’t know the National Arts in Education week was a celebrated week until reading this article, but I’m certainly glad it is. I love the way these artists think about and approach their craft - with inherent optimism, openness, and technicality. Specifically, Jeffrey Hinkelman’s quote on how film encompasses other arts was very interesting, since I think about theatre in a similar way. Each performance (alongside film, though a different medium) is a window into a moment in a world, oftentimes similar to our own. This idea that the arts are essential to the fabric of connection is something that I certainly subscribe to.
