This was such an interesting read! I did a class project on the Pittsburgh public theatre, and so was mildly familiar with them, but had not known Michael Berresse’s name before. I will definitely be doing some more research on him after this. It’s so cool to think how how many people got their start in Pittsburgh, the city I ow live in for college. It was also interesting to read about the child actors and how they are operating during the holiday season. I really like how the article talks about kids getting into character. It says “ “It may sound so simple, but there are these worn and tattered cowboy boots that really make me feel like I’m walking in the character’s shoes. … And then the second thing is this leather jacket – It’s like the most Farkus-y thing I’ve ever seen,” he says with a laugh.” This is such a nod to the work of costume design and their role not only in designing for the audience, but designing fir the actors.
