Arianne Phillips: Don't Worry Darling
Costume Designers Guild, I.A.T.S.E. Local 892: Always pushing her creativity, Arianne Phillips often takes breaks from film to design theater, music videos, and concert tours, as well as styling print work and cover shoots for fashion magazines like Vogue Italia. “It’s kind of a path cleanser,” she explains. “I’ve gone out of my way to work across genres, so I can be choosy with the films I do.”

This article covers the life of Arianne Phillips and how she tended to take breaks from her career in film from time to time to focus on her other interests, including theater design, music video production, directing and working on shoots for vogue. Throughout my time working on artistic projects, I’ve always been somewhat like this, working on different things in different mediums, such as designing lights for shows, taking portrait photos of my friends for fun, and spending tons of time dancing. I never really had an issue working on all of these different interests, because it made me feel full and I was able to put aside time to focus on everything separately. Going into college, I was feeling somewhat nervous, because I had the impression that I would be so busy with schoolwork and whatever I decide to concentrate in that I wouldn’t have time for my other interests. Reading an article about such a successful woman makes me feel so much better about wanting to achieve so many different goals in so many different areas without feeling like I have to give one single interest my undivided attention.
