Be on the lookout for 'D Dog' TV production

TribLIVE: D Dog is short for “Downward Dog,” the ABC-TV and Legendary Television sitcom that's been in production in the area the last few weeks. Based on a webisode created by Pittsburgh residents Michael Killen and Sam Hodges of the local video production service Animal, the show stars Golden Globe and Emmy nominee Allison Tolman (“Fargo”), and Lucas Neff (“Raising Hope”).

I was actually wondering what "D-Dog" was all this last week. Is it D Day for dogs? Is a lesser known rapper performing in Schenley park? Why are there so many trailers in Schenley, is there some sort of cookout, or festival happening? Can I come? These are all questions I have asked myself in the last week. And now, I'm glad I know the answer. It's a sitcom... about a dog. And Pittsburgh is here with open arms to be its location. Am I going to watch this sitcom, no matter how good or how dumb because it was filmed a few blocks from my house? You bet I will. I don't really understand the premise. Does the dog talk? Or does he just exist to facilitate counseling to their marriage? I guess since he's somehow the main character he has to talk. I'm not so sure from the premise that this one's going to be a top hit, or even get renewed but, its cool that its here, I guess. It is pretty exciting that something is filming right here in Squirrel Hill for a major network. The dog is pretty cute, too, so maybe it does have hope.

Is this about a dog who is dating a human? Is this show about bestiality? Or does only the dog want it? Is Downward Dog a vulgar thing or is this show about yoga? This article left me confused, scared, and wary of the production filming here in grand old Pburgh. I like Lucas Neff, or whatever his last name is. I think he is pretty funny on Raising Hope, but you must have some kind of weird resume if your two shows are both you playing off a a small, mute, cute object. Raising Hope is about a single dad who is really dumb raising a baby with his parents. It's about them but mostly about the baby, who gets tons of cute glamor shots. I wonder how different this will be? I don't really like shows where animals talk anymore, because I don't think it is holy to hear what a dog might truly sound like inside.

Well, it's cool they are filming here! I have never watched Fargo but I bet this main actress is good if she won an Emmy and stuff, but what do I know. I hope to see more of the production happening around town - I will keep an eye out for the D Dog.
