What an awesome event idea. The coolest thing about this event is that they are paying attention and exhibiting the local gems of Pittsburgh. It is awesome how everything from the drinks to the crafts and even the music are all being provided by Pittsburgh based businesses and artists. My mom use to hold the position of Social/ community chair on the board of our neighborhood. she would always try to think up events that showcased local businesses and hidden gems of the community and I think she would love this event. the event is not only a good way to showcase local business, but also get people to go and check out the exhibits of the Mattress Factory as well and being able to enjoy good food and drinks on top of that sounds amazing. Then you add the fact that you can wear your Halloween costume and get all festive and it seems even more incredible!
I LOVE this idea. This event is a total celebration of Pittsburgh and is a unique collaboration of the community. There will be Pittsburgh music, locally sourced food, and all the money will go right back into bringing art to the community. I've been dying to go to the Mattress Factory since I got to Pittsburgh, and this would be a great opportunity to go if I didn't have crew in the morning. I hope to see more community involved events like this one soon.
This sounds like an absolutely terrific event! I wish I could go because like the description says it really brings together a lot of great vendors and obviously, it is the Mattress Factory which has a great reputation. I have attended a few other events at the gallery, however this one in particular sounds particularly special. This event reminds me just how special Pittsburgh is. It is the perfect blend of hip, current art scene (Mattress Factory) with innovative methods of food preparation (Pgh Crepes, Pgh Taco Truck) as well as its family centric feel (Soergel Orchards). I think that they are capitalizing on wonderful timing as well. The fact that you can host a Sunday Brunch the day after people go out partying and then have Halloween still to actually come is great. I hope that this is a successful event for the Mattress Factory and that they continue to produce current, contemporary events like this.
