I wanted to read this article because I know little to nothing about international theatre. My theatre knowledge is so reduced to what is happening in the US, or sometimes just the city I’m living in. I never really know much about what theatre is happening abroad, and I wish I could learn more about theatre from other cities. I really like what I read about the Kyoto festival; they are bringing in so many different countries that it is indeed a mixing pot of many different countries. There are entries from all over the world, like Argentina and Malaysia. I liked the festival’s goal of bringing to light issues that divide us. The article states“The program also includes three works that consider various borders that partition our world today, such as by nationality or the language used to convey history” . I think it’s important to keep these issues in mind when creating an international theatre festival.
