www.inquisitr.com: Oh, those that would like to be an Oscar Meyer wiener may not truly want to be one on Sunday, February 15. That is the day that the Wienermobile lost control on a snow-covered road and ended up crashing into a pole in Enola, Pennsylvania.
Yes, there was damage to the Wienermobile, but luckily, no one was injured.

It’s always so strange when iconic things become subject to real life events. Never in my lifetime had I thought ‘what would happen if the Oscar Meyer Weiner truck got in a car accident?’ It’s sad, but at the same time the article says “Oscar Meyer has a number of Wienermobiles that all look the same, and won’t have to do without one entirely” which is not as reassuring as it should be. It makes the Weinermobile feel extra commercial and not nearly as special. I remember learning the song as a grade-wide event in second grade. As opposed to being an icon, the article sets the tone that the situation is one easily fixed and nothing to worry about, taking some of the old-school vibe out of the story. On a more realistic note, I am happy to hear that no one was injured in the accident and hope all other Weinermobiles will continue to drive safely.
