Why is this even still an issue? We are finally, FINALLY getting to the point where public opinion is finally moving to the opinion that maybe equal representation isn't such a bad thing. Movies that cast diversely are PRAISED. People online get angry when the oscar nominations are not diverse. People get so excited when the entertainment industry feels like it is changing because it has been SO LONG coming. I would be surprised if a production company started making a point of female headed movies and they weren't lauded for their actions. So why is Hollywood too scared to hire anyone even remotely outside of the cultural norm? Women can be good directors. Women can be great directors. Selma, one of the best movies of the year, was directed by a woman. Anyone who doubts the skill and talent of women as compared to men is living firmly in a disappointingly antiquated and frankly frightening stupor.
