University Job: Assistant Professor in Design for Theatre, University of Calgary
finearts.academickeys.com: Responsibilities will include teaching, at undergraduate and graduate levels, with the majority of teaching in the areas of Design for Theatre or Scenography (Set, Costume, Lighting and Projection Design or Sound Design). It is expected that the successful candidate will establish strong research programming in his/her field that is in keeping with the Eyes High strategy, assist with the Department’s main stage season and supervise graduate and undergraduate students. The selected candidate should be prepared to teach as a member of a team that will develop a dynamic and technologically relevant curriculum that prepares students for the professional theatre and research in their field. Candidates who incorporate new technologies for the theatre in their research and teaching will be given priority consideration. Special consideration will be given to those candidates who also evidence strengths in at least two areas of design. Candidates who are also able to teach in the areas of Theatre History, History of Scenography, Costume History or Stage Management are of particular interest to the Department. Applicants must hold terminal degrees in Design for Theatre, have professional experience in their disciplines and should be active in national and/or international professional organizations.
