IATSE Local 500 and Kravis Center Reach Agreement
Stage Directions: Just before Christmas IATSE Local 500 and the Kravis Center (a performing arts center in West Palm Beach, Fla.) reached a contract agreement, ending 12 years of labor strife at the Center. The agreement includes a five-year labor contract, the withdrawal of all pending unfair labor practice charges, and a resolution of the back pay elements of the case. This was (obviously) a long-running dispute between the IATSE and the Center, with multiple complaints from the National Labor Relations Board against the Center. At one point, a federal judge had to order the Kravis Center to bargain in good faith. In July of 2012 the NLRB ruled that the Kravis Center owed more than $2.6 million in pay to stagehands.
