League of Independent Theater Launches LIT Fund

This endeavor gives me so much hope. The fact that the little guys can band together to help each other out, and even request help from the big Broadway theatres is really heartening. When you think New York theatre, you think Broadway, and no one outside of the business really questions how the talent gets there. The LIT fund seems like a really logical plan to help the "little fish" help the "big fish" who then help the "little fish" in turn.
The LIT fund is an exciting new development for New York's independent theaters and its community. This 'emergency fund' will support the 'little fish' theaters when and if they face hard times. With the recent economic decline, I am happy to see a new defense being formed as to be prepared for the worst. I hope to see that this fund will not be needed to be put to use anytime soon, but it is great back up.
The LIT fund seems to be a great way to support struggling theaters. It certainly is to the benefit of all theater companies to prevent at risk theaters from failing. It appears to me that these theaters are also the ones continuing to take on more experimental and artistic pieces, and I feel that it is important for them to continue to function. I do hope that the "large fish" and other high profile broadway companies support this cause, and that the motto "In us we trust" has a farther reach than only a small band independent theaters.
