Live Sound: Spotlight: The Wide World Of Road Cases

Pro Sound Web: If audio gear doesn’t arrive at the venue ready to work, you’re out of luck. It’s the primary reason why racks and cases are so important (if overlooked). And in addition to the obvious purpose of protecting equipment from damage, they also serve other important functions, including helping to organize, inventory, store, transport and set up a systems.

So as an architect, I am really interested in packing - more specifically, “fatpacking.” There is a big movement in design to try to make things as collapse as possible. I think that flat pack or designed packing is really applicable here. I think there are 2 really different approaches though for this design. One you design for a show so that everything comes out of the truck mostly put together and fits really well with each other for that run of the show the other is packing things for the most modularity so that they can be used in many different applications and switched easily I would be really curious to see what different shows do and what their justifications for each would be.
