I have actually seen this documentary. It is amazing to see it. I am very curious both how they are going to turn this into a musical and how they are going to have any acting happen while people are all grouped around a car. These seem like two very big technical difficulties that would be hard to get around. This story is actually very compelling because of the physical stamina that it takes to keep yourself standing for that long and with your hand on the car, and also to show the pure determination that some people have to win a truck. In the end it almost seems like it is not even worth it, but once someone wins you realize what it really means to them.
La Jolla has a long history of bringing new works to the stage. This show seems to be amazingly well timed with the amount of economic strife in the show. It is also interesting the list of creative talent on this show. It is unfortunate that like many shows recently it is based on a movie.
