Lost Marvels of Revolution-Era Russian Theater
Coilhouse: Some excellent detective work by Ghoul Next Door has uncovered the origins of this 101-year-old photo. The stunning image was brought to our attention by guest blogger Angeliska, who writes, “I’ve become totally obsessed with this carte de visite depicting Maria Germanova of the Moscow Arts Theatre, costumed for her role [as the fairy] in Blue Bird. She is my perfect style icon, now and forever.”

I agree with the author, that to be able to have seen the original work and designs of Stanislavsky for 'Blue Bird' would have been amazing. We can see how interesting this show must have been from the few pictures of the actors that there are. Now this can be a good lesson in need for documentation in our work. Im not saying that we are creating work like Stanislavsky every day, but I think that it is important to have some sort of record of your work even just for your own personal use. How many times do we need to figure out how to something completely from scratch because even though we did it in the past, we cant for the life of us figure out how to do it. It is just some food for thought, because its even a great way to see how your work grows as an artist. And maybe one day some one will be looking at your work for inspiration, and wont you be glad to have helped and inspired future audiences?
