State, stagehands union in court today over search

indystar.com: Lawyers for the state and a stagehands union moved closer to an agreement today on turning over documents related to the Indiana State Fair stage collapse. A lawyer for the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees Local 30 said he was willing to hand over apprenticeship training files on employees who worked the fair during the accident Aug. 13. A court hearing this morning to resolve a dispute over a search warrant was continued until Nov. 3 before Marion Superior Judge David Shaheed.

What stood out the most to me in this article was how a fight started about turning over the worker's files. I know that in class we talked a little bit about this and how usually, it comes down to being about one person and how they made a snap decision that determines the entire show. It is their job to ensure the safety and well being of everyone else and therefore, when we turn to the legal matters, one person can be ruined eternally for an error in judgement. It is nice that the company is trying to protect their workers, although, they didn't completely do that when the stage fell over. I feel bad for the ones that were involved but at the same time, they took this job and they should have been more careful.

It does seem like a search warrant is somewhat extreme to get the paper work that they are wanting for the investigation. But they may be hiding something so that is the way that they have to do it. Also when this type of event happened everyone is investigated and sued in one way or another. So when they say they should not searched they should have expiated to be. I hope that they find what group was responsible in this collapse. I just hope that all of the people and groups that do this type of outdoor event are not prone to cancel and possibly lose their money. I hope something was done for the families that where affected in this accident.
