This is a truly sad accident that happened to Miss Dufault. When I read the article I was surprised to find that she had died due to a lathe incident. I have no doubt that she was a competent worker who knew how to handoe the tools she was working with safely. Her hair getting caught was just one of those flukes that sometimes just happen. Its very sobering because, accidents like this can happen to any of us, no matter how long weve been using these machines. I mean how many times do people including myself sometimes 'just need to make one cut' and maybe arent proctected in the right way. That split second decision to not be completely safe could lose us our eyesight or our lives. It just goes to show that we should always be aware of what were doing and to always be safe.

This is a sad accident that happened. This really goes to show that all the days we were lectured on for safety and continually reminded may help us in the future. Pulling back hair in a ponytail might not be enough, we really have to think about what we are doing and pay attention to everything. Its a hard task to remember everything until it is second nature, but even then we may forget. Its always good to watch one another and work together. Hopefully we will all stay safe.

This is a terrible terrible accident that could have easily been avoided. Thankfully here a Carnegie Mellon we are taught all the best safety precautions possible. We should always be on top of it and never assume since we are making one cut that we shouldn't pull back our hair or not wear safety goggles. Also its shocking that she was working there alone at night. I don't think anyone should be alone in any shop by themselves working. It sounds dangerous and it was dangerous for her to be in there alone. That should not have happened.

This is truly a sad thing that has occurred.is I know even if some was there and this happened they could not have done much to stop this from this happening. The best they could have done is to say put your hair up and make sure that they are safe. I don’t thing that this is an OSHA problem it is someone just not listening to the rules and obeying them. I know when I work in the shop hear at CMU I feel that we are all ways being watched and watch one another to make sure that everyone is safe and does not do something dumb and heart or kill themselves in the shop. I wish the family the best through this hard time
