Moby Dick at the Landor cancelled

The Stage: "The spokesman added: “Everybody involved is gutted because they haven’t been able to put it in front of the public. This is a show that flopped spectacularly in 1991 at the Piccadilly and this is the first major London revival and there have been changes to the show, with permission of Cameron Mackintosh, and what they have come up with, I think, could have re-established the show as a major musical.”

This is absolutely poor managing. I cannot comprehend how the producers began this project unaware that they would not have the funds to fulfill its it's opening and run. Did a backer pull out of the show which jeopardized the team or did someone simply not watch the budget in order to maintain balance between the big pot and the hands it needed to pay? I wonder what debts the producers must be in now with canceling contracts and such or what they even put in to the show that they will never see recovered. This is just a great example of how important planning ahead is and watching your budget, especially with projecting your budget.
