Hatten lays out mess for Shadow to clean
The Denver Post: "In a blunt new letter to the Shadow Theatre board of directors, recently resigned artistic director Keith L. Hatten claims the teetering company owes more than $12,000 in unpaid royalties and at least $4,200 more in payroll taxes."

I can't believe that this kind of thing can still happen in an organized theater. It seems that this particular issue isn't even one of poor oversight, but a blatant disregard for the law, by the board. Its very irresponsible and forever tarnishes the name of Shadow. I would hope that the board and the new artistic director heed Hatten's advice and make paying the royalties and taxes their first priority. Its really unacceptable for a theater not to pay the people they need to be paying.
