A Disagreement I Agree With
An Angry White Guy in Chicago: "My favorite slag term in all of it is 'cultural marketplace.' Man, I hate that term. Remember one thing, folks - a big, non-profit corporation is still a CORPORATION that uses the muscle it accrues to MAKE MORE MONEY. Some non-profits manage to work to make the world a better place (I know - I work for Public Radio) but if the only purpose of the artistic existence of a corporation is to pay those in charge of getting more money in the bank, it's no different that AIG or Enron. 'Cultural Marketplace' implies that it's all for sale and that the success or failure of that marketplace is the exchange of money rather than ideas."
