Build An Impressive Free Resume Online In 15 Minutes With JobSpice

MakeUseOf: "While popular services such as Monster and CareerBuilder may have some job postings (the Internet doesn’t truly list all the openings), they also make you jump through lengthy account-creating and advertisement hurdles in order to get a chance at creating or uploading a resume."

I am not too impressed by the resumes this site spits out. While they are all nice idea launchers, I much rather go through the hassle of Microsoft word then use one of these templates. While it is much easier to insert data into a template, being able to adjust the overall look is much more important. Maybe if they come up with better templates I would think about using this site.

All right, what bothered me about this article from the beginning was its bashing of Microsoft Word, and therefore, other programs in which you can create your own, personalized resume. Personalization is KEY in resumes. You want to stand out from the crowd, not be another form that employees see millions of a day. Yes, it is easier to insert information into a template, but why not put a little more effort into your resume, something that is supposed to showcase your achievements, and have yourself really be proud of the document. Also, making something into a PDF really isn't that big of a hassle. It takes about less than 30 seconds.

This site looks great for organizing the actual resume, but when it comes to the format, I'd rather export it into word, and fiddle with it there. But, I definitely think I'd use this for organization, and figuring out what to put where. I'm terrible at putting together resumes, and this does offer the option of having different versions saved at one time, so you can add them together.
