Carnegie Mellon Kicking Ass and Taking Names in Robo-Race Qualifiers
Wired.com: "Carnegie Mellon's Tartan Racing team car, Boss, has been cleaning up the track here at the DARPA Urban Challenge qualifying events. Boss completed 26 left turns to successfully merge into oncoming traffic yesterday, and was one of only two cars to complete the navigation and parking trial the day before."

of course they are. i always forget about our many programs and in competitions like this its good to see that we can hold our own... i feel like lots of the times schools are talked about with reference to rank and silly polls and statistics but i like when a school can actually get out into the world and really prove themselves, really show what they are made up of... its refreshing to know that we can back up all the fact and writings with actual occurrences.
What a great title! Sometimes we get so caught up in the SOD that we forget all of the other things happening in our school. Its sad, really, because we can truly learn so much from each other. It's nice to know that while we sometimes talk up the other departments without really knowing what they are doing, that they are living up to the reputation, and I hope to hear more about it soon!
I'm glad they said "Kicking Ass." I think that with more and more classes and getting to know different people on campus I'm finally starting to contextualize what this school is actually widely known for. I feel that sometimes we're so trapped in our own building that we are easily steered into forgetting about the other departments and their many and frequent accomplishments. Now, when I go home I and hear about things I know that we're behind a lot of the big technological movements right now. Bad Ass.
