i think it is a very comical and smart decision to make the only animal in this circus robotic. kind of a snub to the popular circus.
I heard great things about this show while it has been here. Its interesting to hear that this Circus has such strong ties to the political theater world. Visually it is supposedly beautiful, with talent to match. I have a hard time not associating any Circus with either cirque or Ringling, but having what seems to be another unique approach is refreshing.
my god, i want to see this really badly now. i already wanted to see this but now im so happy that i dont plan to go home over fall break so i can go downtown and see this. i think when you're working in a feild like circus you can get stuck in a category (like ringling v. cirque) very easily and its so exciting to see that someone or a group must have completely rethought the whole idea of what a circus could be. leave it up to australia to reinvent something most people think they grew out of when they got braces.
I wonder how much money is saved by having a robotic animal in the show. Just guessing, would seem you would lose 2 jobs (trainer, cleaner) but gain one (maintenance).
