Rocky Horror

Calling all Sweet Tranvestites, Transsexuals, Virgins, and Aliens:

The Dramatic Literature Graduate Colloquium opens their next meeting to the general public of the School of Drama, to join us for

...the late night...
...double feature...
...ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW!

As part of their study of the experimental theatre of the 1970's, the Graduate Colloquium will be hosting the creation of the RHPS Performance Event. To that end, we are showing the ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW in the Wells at midnight on Sunday, April 8. It is important to our curriculum to have experienced Rocky-goers at this event as well as those of you who've never seen it. Be prepared to SCREAM, HECKLE, DANCE, and even BE A FRANK-N-FURTER (you know you want to)!

PLEASE YES BRING: Costumes, newspapers, SMALL water pistols, flashlights, rubber gloves, noisemakers, confetti, toilet paper, party hats, bells, cards, and virgins!

PLEASE DO NOT BRING: Rice (use confetti instead), open flame lighters (use flashlights instead), toast, hot dogs, or prunes!

No admission charged, but we must respect the capacity of the room. The doors will be closed after the first 100 people arrive.

Immediately following the showing of the film and the cleanup of the Wells, Ms. Shaw and Ms. Stebbins will be presenting the history of the Rocky Horror Picture Show performance event, and the class will be discussing (with whips and chains) "Wild and Untamed Thing: The Exotic, Erotic, and Neurotic Rocky Horror Performance Cult"
by Michael M. Chemers.

Faculty especially welcome! For questions or a copy of the reading, please email Allegra Libonati at alibonat@andrew.cmu.edu.

I must say that it was somewhat shocking to see the graduate students strutting up and down the hallway in heels, fishnets, corsets and eyeliner at 11:30 on Easter Sunday. Once questioned as to whether there was some Easter celebration that the freshman were not invited to or something along those lines, they were very willing to explain. Some were more reserved in their choice in dress, but never the less, it was nice to see a different side to the grads that we lowly freshmen are not usually permitted to see.

My only wish for this showing is that more people would have attended. It was a bit awkward being the only freshman there but still enjoyable. Especially with Sylvia, Maya, and Doc yelling out every call-back.
