Paper Mill to Get $3 Mill, Shows Will Go On

Backstage: "The financially troubled Paper Mill Playhouse appeared to save its season Thursday when two real estate companies agreed to back a bank loan of $3 million, enabling the theatre to stage its final productions of the season. "

Its nice to see that members of the community outside of theater are willing to help preserve such a well know, historic facility such as Paper Mill. I think that the new artistic director should use this occurrence to examine his choices in the season however. If his choices in the season are creating a decline in audience attendance, perhaps he should look at trends in the old season that caused audience members to want to attend. Although it is important to constantly change and explore, one must approach that evolution with caution when it starts to jeopardize the reputation a company has with its target audience.
