This sounds really….not good. I don’t know, for a second I though they were trying to do some kind of “idol search” to find these kids. I do feel a bit better about the fact that they aren’t making a direct reference to Katrina. I’m sure it will be a hit however, people like to cry at shows, and little kids talking about how their house was washed away will most likely do it.
I just think it's too soon. With a good agenda or not, it's just too soon. There hasn't been a movie on 9/11 produced yet (well, it's being filmed right now, but...). With enough amount of time in between the producing and the happening of the disaster, people will cry at the show. If it opends at the wrong timing, people will ALWAYS get offended
Its a little odd and perhaps a little too soon for this production. I like that they aren't trying to directly do the Katrina Musical, but its still wierd that its happening so soon and in a different country.
Okay it's clear that there is a direct reference to New Orleans here, which i'm not sure will be so appropriate. A MUSICAL about the hurricane? I'm really worried. But you know.. little kids are the stars, and who can be angry at 40 little singing angels?
I agree with what everyone is saying that it is too soon to do this. Even though this isn't the first production to do this. I saw students do a production like this and I was personally offended by it and I think a widespread production will cause much ridicule.
