I fall into this ineffective emailing trap all the time. Especially when it comes to lengthy emails. However I am trying to get better at keeping it brief. I think that it is very important to do so because you can only capture someone's attention for so long, and if you ramble on long enough, you will lose it.
I found this article interesting because we just read a book in my elective by Stephen Covey titled "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People", so this was a familiar kind of idea.

Great article. I wish I could email it to everyone in my address book, but that would probably get filed under highly ineffective. He hit upon just about everything we discussed in class, including my personal pet peeve, proper spelling and grammar. I know I'm unusually fond of grammar, but how much trouble is it to go through messages and make sure everything is correct? I don't know how anyone expects me to take their email seriously if they can't take the time to reread it.
