Hand-Sketching: Things You Didn't Know Your Doodles Could Accomplish

As a hand-drafting student when electronic drafting resources are becoming more and more popular, I often hear laments of going about things the old-fashioned way. However, I never saw too much of a problem with it and am now glad to have this article of reasons for hand-drafting to back me up.

Not to say I am a master drafter-- I have massive difficulty drawing straight lines and can't keep a paper smudge-free for the life of me. But according to this article, perhaps these mistakes can work to my advantage. When I mess up in terms of form, I'm forced to use "visual synthesis" to make sense of my work!

Drawing on paper is an action we're conditioned to. As we have been taught to doodle since childhood, we naturally are inclined to put pen to paper as opposed to just typing on a computer. Perhaps this explains the childish quality of my drafting projects.
