Fast Company: The next time you step into a job interview, don't just go in armed with mental bullet points depicting your strengths and weaknesses, or a winding story about your ability to persevere during times of crisis. This list is hysterical. Some of the questions that these companies have asked surprise me, and make me think that companies are becoming more interested on how a person can think on their feet and not be so concerned with answering correctly to interview questions. The list actually reminded me a lot of my college interviews. While many colleges asked similar questions, a few colleges, including CMU, stood out. I remember being asked at my CMU interview unique questions that didn't necessarily have to do with theatre. These questions definitely took me off-guard, but looking back, it is nice to know that CMU does not only care about your intelligence and talent, but also about who you are as a person and how you represent yourself.
Some of these questions were pretty hysterical. I can definitely see why large companies who must get hundreds of qualified applicants for a position use some unconventional interview techniques in order to really see the personalities of the applicants. I don't think there really is a way to prepare for these type of questions, other than to just be honest in your interview, with all questions, not just the oddball ones. If every answer is not scripted, there will be less of a chance of being tripped up by unexpected questions.
